Wireless network guidelines

If you use Remote Desktop to control and observe client computers connected using a wireless network, communication errors may appear in the Computer Status window.

To optimize performance for computers in a wireless network, do the following:

  • Update all Remote Desktop client computers to the latest versions of Remote Desktop and OS X.

  • Limit the number of clients that connect to a single wireless access point. Only one device at a time can communicate on a given wireless channel. All devices connected to the same wireless access point may also need to connect with each other to communicate other network information.

  • Adjust the multicast speed higher on your wireless access points. Configure each base station with a station density of high to limit the range of the base station, so client computers must be within 50 meters of it.

  • Resize the observe and control window to a smaller size.
